The Renaissance
After the Hundred’ Years War and the plague, Europe entered a wonderful time of thinking and learning, known as the Renaissance. The Renaissance began in Italy, and lasted from 1300 to roughly 1650. During the Renaissance, people became interested in learning and studying classical texts from the Greek and Roman Empires.
During the Renaissance, a new technique called perspective became popular amongst artists. An example of some artists popular during the Renaissance who used this new technique are: Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and Raphael. Michelangelo made an enormous painting on the roof of the Sistine Chapel. Leonardo da Vinci is famous for the paintings the last supper and Mona lisa. Raphael painted the school of Athens. This changed art stylings forever because with perspective, paintings looked more realistic.
